Pillar 01 · Insurance

Underwriting & risk documentation

Insurers, brokers and lenders are asked to price a risk they cannot see. We make the operator’s knowledge visible — documented, logged and signed by a licensed captain.

What the record shows

Evidence, not assurances

A vessel-specific training record answers the three questions an underwriter actually asks.

01

The operator

Demonstrated systems knowledge

A signed record showing the operator was instructed on the actual systems aboard the actual vessel — not a generic classroom course.

02

The risk

A disciplined approach to mitigation

System interdependencies, operating limitations and early recognition of mechanical issues, documented module by module.

03

The record

Hours you can audit

40 hours, itemised as 25 on the water and 15 dockside, classroom and engine room — each row initialled by the captain.

Preparedness is a document you can read

The program ends with a binder: logged hours, system-by-system familiarization, engine room checklists, emergency quick-reference procedures, vessel diagrams and captain verification.

How the program works

In the binder

What we document

  • Documented and logged vessel-specific training hours
  • System-by-system familiarization and review
  • Awareness of daily and weekly operational checklists
  • Emergency response overview and quick-reference procedures
  • Review of vessel-specific system diagrams
  • Verification and sign-off by a licensed captain

Who it serves

Who asks for this

  • Underwriters reviewing a new or renewed yacht policy
  • Brokers and agents assembling a submission
  • Lenders requiring evidence of operator competency
  • Owners adding a new operator, captain or family member to the vessel
  • Owners of newly acquired or significantly refit vessels

We do not give insurance advice, and we do not represent any insurer. We document what happened aboard the vessel and let the record speak. The intent of this program is to document systems knowledge at an operational level, demonstrate a disciplined approach to vessel risk management, and provide insurers and stakeholders with tangible evidence of vessel-specific training and oversight.

Important

What this record is not

Vessel-specific familiarization and general systems knowledge only — not Coast Guard–approved training, and not licensing, certification, credentialing or regulatory compliance of any kind.
